Blog Post #4 - Text Messaging… Does it help or hinder student writing?
Although it can be missleading to your tone in which you are trying to express, I think text messaging is a very useful method of communicating. For example if you are in a noisey place and its very hard to understand them or for them to understand you, all you have to do is press a few buttons and BAM instant communication! I probably text maybe only 20 to 30 times a day and usually only 4 people depending on the circumstances. I think text messaging is having a serious impact on communication because you can’t express wether you’re happy, sad, or mad for instance if you dont text back because your phone died or you didn’t get their text yet they could get mad or frusterated. I think it impacts peoples language like when I here people talking in the halls they use words such as “LOL” or “IDK.” Texting also does impact a persons ability to write because their so use to texting that they use it on paper too. So although texting can be good it is also missleading and dumbing our population.
Blog Post #3 - Independent Reading - New Understandings
During independent reading of my ferret book, I’ve learned a few things like do not give a ferret anything you wouldn’t feed to an infant. Also handle them with care like you would a baby. So basically treat them exactally like you would a baby.
Blog Post # 2 - Blogs? What’s a Blog?
I personally think that a blog is a way of expressing your thoughts and emotions. Even though I don’t use the computer that much it is fun to do. Computers are also a great source of information. Some of my friends use blogs on myspace to share poems they’ve read or have written, day to day or past experiences thay’ve had or someone they’re close to has experienced. I love to write! I write about everything that is appealing to me. I mostly write about things I am interested in, I am going threw, or how I feel about something. I think People are concerned about kids being on line because it can be dangerous and there are preditors out there, and if you display too much information online they could find you. I think everyone can be a victum and or target no matter your age. People around me that use computhers generally use them for work, homework, and e-mail. I think blogging is a good way to learn from others and teach others about things you have experienced.
Blog Post #1 - Independent Reading - Book Selection
I am reading Ferrets - providing the best home for your ferret, and its author Karen Dale Dustman. I choose to read this book because my boyfriend Darrin and I recently adopted two adult farrets for our 8 month anniversary, and I want to know as much about them as I possibly can. I don’t want to over or under feed them or let them have anything that’s bad for them. Therefore I am learning everything I can to ensure their health.
